Mascouche

Mascouche is a city in Quebec (Canada), located in the Les Moulins regional county municipality (MRC) in the administrative region of Lanaudière. According to the latest census in 2021, the population is 50,455 inhabitants.

Of indigenous origin, more precisely Algonquin, Mascouche means “bear”, from maska, maskwa, bear, a form from which maskoch, “little bear”, was taken.

Located just a few kilometers northeast of Montreal, the town of Mascouche is crossed by the river of the same name. It neighbors the towns of Repentigny, Terrebonne, L'Épiphanie and Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan.

With Highway 640 to the south and Highway 25 which crosses it right in the center, Mascouche benefits greatly from the intersection of these two major arteries. Shops are mainly concentrated on Montée Masson and part of Sainte-Marie.
